Enrichment Programs
Spanish
In our preschool classrooms, Spanish is seamlessly woven into songs, stories, and activities. Children greet, count, sing, and explore in both English and Spanish. This dual language approach aligns with NAEYC’s emphasis on cultural competence and the CT ELDS Language & Literacy standards, broadening vocabulary, celebrating diversity, and laying the groundwork for future bilingualism.
Embracing Every Voice
At Town & Country Early Learning Centers, we believe that language is more than words — it’s connection, culture, and cognition. Our programs embrace both sign language and Spanish, integrating them meaningfully into daily routines to foster communication from the very start of life.
The Gift of Language
At Town & Country, every language is a gift. Let’s celebrate the ways children speak, even before they speak.
Language & Brain Development
Infancy through age five is a critical window for brain development. Early exposure to multiple languages during this time builds lifelong cognitive advantages. Children in our programs not only hear language- they use it with purpose, supported by nurturing relationships and engaging experiences. Our teachers use extended modeling, visual cues, and positive reinforcement- just as CT’s ELDS Social-Emotional domain recommends.
Family Partnership
Language learning thrives when families are involved. We share signs and Spanish phrases that children use daily so you can support communication at home too. Our inclusive curriculum reflects the values of Town & Country Early Learning Centers – empowering families, embracing diversity, and nurturing each child’s unique voice.
Standards That Ground Us
Our curriculum and language programs are grounded in:
- NAEYC’s Early Learning Program Standards
- CT Early Learning and Development Standards (CT ELDS): These ensure every child’s experiences are culturally responsive, emotionally supportive, and developmentally appropriate.
Sign Language
Even before children speak, they’re ready to express themselves. Our infant, young toddler, and toddler programs incorporate ASL to help children communicate basic needs and emotions, reducing frustration and building confidence. This practice supports the NAEYC’s Developmentally Appropriate Practices by honoring each child’s pace and the Connecticut Early Learning and Development Standards (CT ELDS) by enhancing early communication and social development.
Sign Language in Infants & Toddlers
Even before children speak, they’re ready to express themselves. At Town & Country, we believe every child’s first classroom is a launchpad for communication, curiosity, and connection. By weaving Spanish into our Preschool program and American Sign Language into our Infant, Young Toddler, and Toddler rooms, we:
- Honor home languages and cultural identities
- Build stronger social–emotional bonds
- Reduce frustration by giving children tools to express needs and ideas
Why Sign Language Matters
Signing fosters stronger bonds between children and caregivers, enriching daily routines with visual language. Research shows that early sign exposure supports language development, cognitive growth, and emotional regulation. We use consistent signs throughout mealtimes, diaper changes, play, and transitions, making communication natural, inclusive, and empowering.
Fitness & Health
Early childhood is a critical time for developing healthy habits. Physical activity and nutrition not only support physical growth but also enhance cognitive development, emotional regulation, and social skills.
