DISCOVERY, QUESTIONS & CONVERSATION

Two-year olds are ready to discover the world around them! Our friendly and bright toddler classrooms provide age-appropriate learning centers where children can independently choose to play in areas of interest. A typical toddler classroom has a comfortable quiet area to curl up in with a favorite book, a sensory table for science experiments, a carpeted floor space for block play, and a dramatic play area for extended pretend play.

Having just the right number of activities for just the right amount of time is essential for a toddler’s success. Circle time includes interactive greetings, colors, shapes, songs and stories. Daily activities and art projects focus on exploration and discovery, developing spatial relationships, lengthening attention span, and increasing impulse control. Teachers engage children in conversations to encourage growing language and literacy skills. When ready, the classroom teacher and parents work together to integrate potty training into each toddler’s day. Child accessible toilets and child sized sinks are perfect to motivate toddlers. Children are allowed to experience this milestone at their own pace while receiving praise and encouragement.

Here We Discover®

Our exclusive toddler curriculum which is individualized to meet the needs of all the children in the classroom.

The Here We Discover Toddler Curriculum focuses on four specific areas of development

PERSONAL & SOCIAL DEVELOPMENT

Your toddler will begin to sustain attention, follow a few simple directions, make transitions, and follow basic rules and routines. At this stage, children become experts at expressing their ideas and emotions! Teachers will encourage your child to ‘use your words and tell me how you feel.’ New friendships will emerge as children begin to engage in parallel play.

PHYSICAL DEVELOPMENT

Your child will carry items from here to there and everywhere, develop newfound balancing skills, feed themselves with minimal spilling, and begin using writing tools with control and purpose.

COGNITIVE DEVELOPMENT

This is the age of “why;” your child will ask lots of questions and look to friends and caregivers for answers. Your toddler will have a keen memory of where toys are kept in the classroom and will begin cleaning up after themselves. Children will exert their independence by choosing activities based on preference and will begin to demonstrate enthusiasm for learning new things

CREATIVE EXPRESSION

Is it scribbling? No, it is important art! It will be easy for your child to work with large crayons and easy-to-grasp, chubby paint brushes. Your child will enjoy moving and grooving to a variety of appropriate music and singing familiar songs with friends. Today the toddlers are pretending to run a grocery store … where is the pasta?
